Presto 06857 16-inch Electric Foldaway Skillet, Black

I love, love, love this electric skillet! It is like a big server and I bought it because it is a Presto product. It has been my experience that this brand always makes its electric pots with a nice thick base and a coating that is not easily scratched. I returned a different electric frying pan becasue the metal was so thin and it burned everything. Food does not burn easily in this pan and it is very even temperature in spite of its size. It is the only electric frying pan I have seen that is nearly double the size of the usual 14 inches and with a very nice base that is removable for easy storage and taking the whole pot and setting it on the table as a server. Now there are only two in our household, so I would have thought it would be overkill, however, I find its size an advantage which allows me to cook more than one item at a time and also serves as a great griddle. I was actually trying to decide what I wanted, a griddle or an electric frying pan, but this choice gives me both. Although I will say for those of you looking for an electric griddle Presto also makes what appears to be a great griddle with a nice heavy base. If you compare this product, you will see that the price might suggest the quality is not there, however it is nicer than most other ones at twice the price. I definitely recommend both Presto and this product.

I don't have much space in my kitchenette, and this works perfect. I have 2 cats also, so having the lid on when I'm not cooking is also perfect even though they're trained at this point not to go in the kitchen area 😅 Play it safe. Anyways, I do forget to take pics or vids while actually cooking so I might try to update with one eventually. This is a small portion of stuff I have cooked with it. Non stick works so good!! I can wipe everything clean even a really thick sauce , literally every single thing I've cooked has wiped clean so easily. I do handwash with dawn dish soap, so I can't guarantee the non stick will be as good for anyone using a dishwasher or other soap with harsh ingredients. I love this thing, and I'm glad I got the protection plan because of how much I like it.

DH bought this for me as a Christmas present in 2019, so I have used it for almost 3 months. I had an old one that was at least 30 years old and while it still worked, it looked terrible and it's cooking surface was pretty bad. This one is so much better. I particularly like that it is nice and deep and that it comes off it's base, which makes it lighter when you want to pour something from it. It also has a handy pour spout just for that purpose. Also because it has the detachable base, it sits higher off the table or counter. This way I can put it on my table without having to worry about damaging my table. It is also very attractive when you want to set it up so people can serve themselves from it. The glass see through lid is also very nice.Two tips a master chef gave me for keeping non stick surfaces non stick are: always wash by hand and never use cooking sprays, as they leave a gummy residue. I have found this advice to be sound. This skillet cleans up very easily, so I am never tempted to just put it in the dishwasher. After 3 months of almost daily use, often at the highest setting of 400, it is still like new and it cooks evenly. I particularly like that I can cook a whole meal right in the pan. Would definitely buy again.
